I'm not a jazz connosieur, so I'll just say that I like it. It's the kind of chaotic jazz that I love. It's from 1962. There's a part in one song called "Los mariachis" that I didn't love, maybe it's just because I'm Mexican and very often when musicians from other countries try to reference our music, particularly mariachi, it just sounds like a parody to me. Other than that, good jazz.

"A tale of negative gravity", short story by Frank R. Stockton

An interesting short story from 1884. A man, in his spare time, discovers a mechanism to harness negative gravity and builds a machine that cancels the weight of any object; but instead of pattenting, selling it, and getting rich with his invention, his wife convinces him to just use it for his benefit, to have fun, and inherit it to their son when they die. Some times it felt overly explicative, but it also has some pretty humorous bits. Good story.

This came from a compilation of 19th century short stories that apparently Isaac Asimov selected as some the best, which a friend gave to me recently for my birthday. I'll probably write about a few more of the stories in that book as I read them. Think Frankestein type genre of "science fiction", which some people debate whether it is or isn't, but reading these stories I totally see why Asimov thinks it is.

That's it for now. Like I said, I want to make this kind of "notes" post something recurrent, but it took me two days to write this one (hey, I have a job, responsibilities, and all that), so I wouldn't be able to do it for everything I read, probably just for a few randomly selected things. It's also part of my plan to consume content more thoughtfully and fight the brainrot of endless scrolling. So, I don't know, maybe once a week?... We'll see.
