Why is it that every time a new revolutionary technology comes out promising to transform the world, life never gets easier, it only gets more complicated? I think it's closely related to what they call Jevon's Paradox.

I’ve been “testing the waters” a little bit and getting back into coding the last couple of days, and getting up to date in what the youtubers are talking about. Everything seems to be either “THIS is how you use this super complicated new AI thingy that didn’t exist 2 months ago and will make you a million times more productive!” or “STOP using AI, it’ll rot your brain and melt the ice caps!”

I think, as a society, we are too stressed. Also, there's no nuance in social media, have you noticed? Nuance is boring, I suppose, nuance don't get you them clicks. But I can't help it...

But I digress...

Back to the initial question, what if I just want to learn to program enough so I can create some cool stuff, but also use a normal-ass, single-layer AI chatbot when the cool stuff that currently lives only in my head and I want to put out to the world exceeds my current coding abilities? (For which the bar is still actually pretty goddam low, in spite of everything).

I keep going in circles.

The problem is I don’t know what I want. Do I want to create things no matter the process? Or do I want to actually learn how to do those things?

You wouldn’t believe how long that question has been circling in my mind. For now, I am looking for a middle ground, that’s the best I can do.
